ABOUT ME…

I was born Amy Dawn Carew on June 8, 1975. Yes. That makes me 40 years old. I am 5 ft. 5 in. tall and weigh 125 pounds. I’d love to say I exercise, but I don’t – much. (And no, staying thin has not come easy. I used to have an eating disorder. But that’s a different story.) Instead, I run around after three kids between the ages of six and eleven years old. I have more gray hair – that I cut and color myself – than I like to admit . And, if you stopped by my house on any given day, you’d see stacks of random papers on my kitchen counters, toothpaste stuck to the sides of my bathroom sinks and Legos lining the living room floor. I like to keep things tidy, but that only happens after 8pm. Sometimes, it doesn’t happen at all. And honestly, I am ok with it.

You may be wondering why I am telling you these things. Let me explain. I want you to know that when you meet me, what you see, is what you get. Raw. Honest. Truth. It isn’t always pretty, but it is always real. And it’s always me. Most of you will like me. Some of you won’t. I am ok with that too.

I am ok with that, because I love who I am. I love my life. I love who the Lord has made me. But most importantly, I love the Lord Jesus Christ. It wasn’t always this way. I spent a lot of years living for myself. Trying to be perfect. I wanted the perfect body, the perfect career, the perfect husband, perfect kids and a perfect home. Then one day I discovered… Life isn’t perfect and neither am I.  And that’s ok, too.

MY HUSBAND…

On April 20, 2002, I met Landon Shale Brandes. From the moment we met, I couldn’t stop smiling. Within five minutes, my heart was captivated. I told him he was adorable. Thirty minutes later, I was sharing my life’s dreams with him. Days later, I blurted “I love you” to him as we walked across the Macy’s parking lot. What can I say? When you know, you know.

On November 9th, just six months later, we were married. That day, the Lord delivered on a promise He made to me years earlier. At the time, waiting for the Lord to bring Landon into my life seemed almost unbearable. Looking back, I wouldn’t have it any other way. We have the incredible marriage we do, because I am a totally different wife than the one I would have been had we met earlier. The Lord really does know what He is doing.

MY CHILDREN…

With the Lord at the center, Landon and I have created a beautiful, very loud, often quarrelsome, but wonderful family. Aspen Jewel is ten. Jayce Skylar is eight. Ty Owen is five.

MY CAREER…

In May 1998, I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Physical Therapy. Though I love what I do, I never intended to work a day after my first daughter was born. God had a different plan. And now, I choose to work part-time outside the home. I love being His hands, His feet, and His mouth to people I would never otherwise get to meet.

MY HEART…

My heart is for people. To see them healed. To see them whole. To see them come to know the love of the Jesus through my life in a real, tangible way. My heart’s desire is that as you follow me, you see Christ.  That through my example, you learn of His love and are ultimately drawn closer to Him.

    • Hey Deborah. Thank you so much! It was a pleasure meeting you as well. I look forward to getting to know you more over the coming weeks. I am so glad you have enjoyed reading the posts. Have a blessed week! Amy

  2. Dearest Amy, what a blessing I had today attending your Bible Study “Building Relationships”. From the time we met when you were a little girl, you always had a special glow about you. Your smile lights up a room! Today, you really glowed while on the stage sharing your heart and message with the women in the room. You have a way of making each person feel important and loved. Amy, that is just your nature because your heart continually overflows with the love of the Lord and Holy Spirit with an openness to share with others. Speaking and teaching about the Lord are definitely your callings, your gifts! I know you are “okay with it”. Thank you for inviting me to this one and being a blessing to me over all the years!

    • Thank you Patsy for such a beautiful message of encouragement. You are such a blessing. I truly do love to help people be all the can be for the cause of Christ. I am blessed beyond measure to be able to share His love with all I meet. Thank you so much for coming to the study. It was wonderful to see you and get to catch up.

      With much love,
      Amy
